What is TLA's Future?

The TLA Network is a young and vibrant organization with an old soul. In future years, we look toward the following goals, all intended to grow the field and profession of TLA:

  • Develop TLA certification opportunities for transformative language artists, healing and health professionals, activists and communityleaders. Along with this, we will be developing opportunities for experience TLAers to offer certification sessions as way to grow TLA where they live and add to their own right livelihood.
  • Complete development of a Right Livelihood Institute, a one-week intensive slated to begin in 2011, offering extensive training in the means to make a living through doing TLA in your community.
  • Continue to grow the Power of Words annual conference, including the tracks in Narrative Medicine, Engaged Spirituality, Social Transformation and Right Livelihood.
  • Offer on-line and phone conference classes on TLA in action, TLA applications, right livelihood and other areas of interest to our community as a way to grow TLA in the world, support the TLA community across a distance, and enable class facilitators to enhance their right livelihoods.
  • Continue to provide means of access for TLA practitioners and Network members to connect with one another via increasing membership benefits and chances to collaborate.   You are encouraged to contact our coordinators if you're looking to make connections with others but unclear as to how or where you might start.
  • Continue to support the growth and development of the TLA Concentration the first program of study in TLA, founded at Goddard College, and look toward additional partnership opportunities between the college and the network.
  • Add more titles to the TLA Press, including books, CDs and other media.

In coming together to amplify our voices and passions, we can both grow the field of study and the profession of making a living from TLA.  Such growth also helps those who have been doing TLA without a way to name their work in a larger context.
